Financial Freedom Friday is for people serious about financial freedom. Every Friday I share what 28+ years of trading taught me. My mistakes. My systems. The lessons that got me out of Corp IT by 40. Learn from someone already doing it.
Wednesday I'm sitting in the back of West Orange Cinema in Ocoee, FL. It's packed with real estate agents and every single one of them is screaming YES over and over. Earlier they were giving each other massages…
And NO it wasn't an adult theater… It was a Tony Robbins seminar.
Left hands held high in the air. Everyone's eyes closed (except mine). The speaker up front has them visualizing a check with their name on it, dated December 31st, and on the count of three the whole room steps forward slapping their right hand to the left hand and yelling YES. repeatedly... over and over...
Where is this weeks financial freedom Friday going?? Before we talk about pullups, did you see my video about how you should be starting the wheel strategy in this current market??
More specifically my goal of an unassisted pullup by November 1st. Maybe pullups are easy for you, maybe they aren't. Maybe you have thoughts about how I should accomplish it…
Tony Robbins talks a lot about identity and it's for good reason… Identity drives behavior, it shapes results, it actually filters your opportunity..
The fact is my identity before this seminar is that I'm a guy who can't do a pullup and even worse I'm a guy who will NEVER do a pullup. That means my motivation to try is really low, and the chance of accomplishing my goal with this identity is terrible…
What identity or self limiting belief do you have about your finances?? Do you think things like: "I'll never have enough money to trade." "The stock market is not for me." "I'm going to be stuck at this job forever" "I'm not smart enough to learn about stock options" "I'm not good with money" "I'm terrible at saving"
Let's keep going... He said, "If you want massive results you need to take massive action." And this is where most people hear it wrong…
I sure wish I can get that pullup…. I hope. I pray. I think about how hard it is…
He's up there pacing and he says
"Nothing happens if you don't take action. Nothing. Nada. Zero." And then this one, which I actually wrote down:
"Do not ask God to show you the path if you are not willing to move your feet."
What actions are you taking to progress in your financial goals?? Are you hoping wishing and praying?? What action will you take today??
Don't confuse massive action with taking massive risks either… I'm not suggesting going all in on one trade or one strategy to see this massive result.. That's not the point here. Massive action is one put sold on a stock you'd actually be happy to own. Then another one next week. Then another. Get out of your comfort zone because growth comes from testing the boundaries… not from betting the whole account on being right once.
The final point he made to these real estate agents really brought it all home for me…
He said your results are 80% mindset and 20% technique.
He was talking about selling houses. He might as well have been talking about your brokerage account, and I'm fairly sure he was looking directly at me when he said it probably knew about my pullup goal...
Think about how much time people spend on the 20%. The indicator. The screener. The guy on YouTube pushing a stock with such confidence you think he knows something you don't. Another course, another spreadsheet, another watchlist... all of it technique. Analysis paralysis, second guessing everything.
The entire time, the actual thing costing them money is that they panic at exactly the wrong moment... FOMO or Panic... and do the opposite of what they wrote down two weeks ago. Switching strategies every couple of days...
Let me leave you with this final thought… He was talking about sunsets… but I guarantee it applies to your financial freedom just like my pullup…
If your goal is to watch the sunrise, and you're running west... it doesn't matter how fast you run. Doesn't matter how early you get up, how many hours you put in, or how badly you want it. You can't outwork the sun's direction. You're just pointed the wrong way, getting more tired, and the ONLY way YOU fix this is you TURN AROUND.
That's most people I talk to. They're not lazy, they're exhausted. Another 50 hour week trading time for dollars, hoping this is finally the year it works.
Look, maybe you don't care about sunrises the way I do... I get up insanely early and live on a lake, I'm a little biased. So let's drop the metaphor and talk about your money.
Nobody ever got free by working more hours at the thing that was already draining them. Direction beats effort. And the reason people don't change direction isn't that they can't, it's that the change feels wrong. You've built your identity on being the guy who just needs to work harder... who just needs to show everyone you were right... Your brain likes what it knows. It'll take a job that's slowly killing you over a plan it can't picture yet, every single time.
So let me tell you what I'm actually doing about that pullup.
I'm in the gym three days a week. I'm on the assisted pullup machine, in public. I'm learning from trainers and coaches who know more about this than I do.
That's the whole plan. It's boring. There's no longer this version of me where I think it's impossible. Because it's going to happen. All because of a random Wednesday seminar...
So this week, pick one. Where are you running west? And what's the smallest real rep you could do about it before Monday?
I'm here if you want to talk it through.
