There I was in my backyard, sitting under my pergola in the Florida sun, it was pretty hot out. I was staring at the lake while a business broker set up microphones on my patio furniture. A business broker wants to interview me for his podcast called Personal Bets?

When was the last time you made a real bet on yourself?

I'm talking about a real one. Not a savings account. Not buying a call on some stock that is about to explode. An ACTUAL BET that can CHANGE YOUR LIFE?

I was thinking back on all the bet's I've made on Tuesday while a guy in a winter long sleeve flannel shirt was sweating through a podcast in my Florida backyard.

Hit reply and tell me the last time you made a bet on yourself. How did it work out? I talk about several winners and losers on the podcast.

I offered him a t-shirt. He said no. His mustache wax was already melting. I was genuinely hoping a lizard would jump on his back. I have these lizards that date back to dinosaurs: they're prehistoric, and it would've made great content to watch him freak out on camera.

That guy in the picture above is Chance Sweat. (Yes that's his real name.) Business broker, entrepreneur, and apparently someone who dresses like we're going snowmobiling while I'm dressed for quick cruise to the Bahamas.

Less than six months ago Chance was a top performer at his W-2. Did everything right. Until the company decided he was a line item they didn't need anymore.

I keep writing it because it keeps being true. You are a number at your job. Your paycheck is only as safe as someone else's spreadsheet.

We've travelled to trading events together, I coached him, invested my own capital into his business (we talk about that on the pod), and now he's part of my family.
